College Homepage Refresh Causes Wave of Excitement
Everyone knows the experience of researching, applying, registering and attending college is exciting, yet the flood of new information can also be overwhelming. When a college website is hard to navigate or important information is hard to find, the whole college experience suffers. No matter how big or small, the homepage is a gateway to critical information which must serve multiple groups of people.
To face the challenge, MiraCosta College partnered with Mth Degree again to rethink and refresh its college homepage.
The goal was for everyone, from students to faculty, parents and the community, to be able to follow the flow of information as easy as possible, making the job easier for school staff, and engaging students with every visit.
With an intuitive user experience in mind, we restructured the information for ease of use and natural hierarchy, laid out in a generous, visual, and fully responsive format.
In close collaboration with MCC we re-organized the main navigation in order of importance, optimized it for touch, tablets and mobile, and implemented much more visual interaction.
We provided streamlined access to the most frequented sections, such as the SURF student portal – aiming to enhance performance and traffic to the new site.
The simplicity carries on to the mobile navigation that gets users to important information, faster. Potential and current students or professors and faculty can now manage applications, registrations, enrollments, and payments in the easiest way possible.
Along the way we reinforced the friendly and innovative character of the MiraCosta College brand through color, photography and interactive elements.
The new MiraCosta.edu launched right on time for the new semester, with an overwhelming positive response from all audiences. It now truly tells the MCC story in a fun and effective way!
