Sustainable Success
A CEO invited me in after what she described as getting “agencied.” She recounted the ordeal with an agency trying to shoehorn their version of a “brand process” into their company.
But the CEO knew I had a different vision: she didn’t want a fabricated brand; She wanted to unearth, ignite, and unite the very essence of his company at its best—where brand and culture are integrated.
This request resonated with me deeply because a brand is everything your company does. Unless you’re a startup still discovering your essence, you already have a brand; it just might need cultivating, refining, storytelling, or activating.
A brand that reflects every facet of your company is too crucial to be separated from your culture and business strategy. No company can thrive in silos in the long run. And these silos often include the disintegration of your brand, culture, and business strategy.
The Trust Imperative
Long-term success hinges on consistently attracting loyal customers, engaging the right team members, and genuinely walking your talk. Trust and integrity in business are built on making and keeping customer promises. Without trust, you can’t retain those hard-earned customers or the team that serves them. Trust is the social currency of all successful businesses.
Let’s break it down with a visual: Brand-Culture Integrity.
When employees embody and deliver on their organization’s promises, it directly enhances customer experiences (CX). This employee experience (EX) is grounded in the core beliefs and behaviors within the company, ideally aligned with its goals. Company culture acts as the organization’s operating system, dictating how it attracts prospects, serves customers, and stays true to its mission. When your culture and brand have synergy, a cohesive system works harmoniously. This is your business experience (BX) at work.
Brand success isn’t just about constructing an attractive brand or articulating your purpose; it’s about the daily grind and consistent efforts of a united and passionate team moving towards a shared vision. Your brand and future are lived into existence through purposeful action and a clear vision that inspires your team.
As much as some beat-the-competition or winner-take-all firms might profess, there are no winners in the game of business. The goal of the game of business is to keep playing; to stay in business. To do that, you must create value for your customers, a thriving workplace for your employees, and profit to keep the business engine running.
The best strategies play the long game of business.
Have you considered how your business could still be thriving 100 years from now? Playing the long game ensures your success today and into the foreseeable future. Playing this way requires you to focus on daily achievements compounded over time. This journey is worth it. Just ask Coca-Cola, Harley-Davidson, L.L. Bean, Kraft Foods, Kellogg’s, and Target. Or pretty much any business Warren Buffett invests in.
I’m here with you, the steadfast business leader, standing by your convictions and striving daily to create a better world for your team and customers. Together, let’s turn your vision into reality.
